Abstract

Throughout human history, the urgency of combating corruption, which is extremely detrimental to any state, its mechanisms, and its citizens, has not diminished. The effectiveness of state anti- corruption policy and the activities of the state bodies implementing it depends on the level of their scientific and methodological support. However, over the past quarter-century, the Russian Federation has not conducted a comprehensive analysis of the state of scientific and methodological support for combating corruption and its alignment with the actual needs of practice. In this regard, the author has analyzed the state of corruption-related crime over the past 10 years based on data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Investigative Committee of Russia, and federal courts, and has performed a content analysis of dissertations, scientific, and educational publications on corruption. Overall, the state of such scientific and methodological support appears satisfactory; however, under-researched aspects of corruption and activities to combat it have been identified. It is proposed that research in this area should be conducted on a continuous and systematic basis
