Abstract

Using cultural studies analysis, the study examines the museum biennale as a coherent artistic statement, drawing on the 16th Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale “The Principle of Hope” at the Museum Center “Peace Square” (25 September 2025–15 February 2026). The exhibition route unfolds from the urban environment into the museum halls and then from the lower to the upper levels, turning an ordinary visit into an experience of «ascent». The mosaic logic of the main project “Museum of Hope” is demonstrated: heterogeneous displays and media reactivate the utopias of modernism, late-Soviet memory, and images of the future, engaging viewers in searching for and assembling meaning through contemplation and interaction with the project’s objects. Hope is interpreted not as an exhibit or an optimistic slogan, but as a process of relating past, present, and future as imaginative work activated by the biennale’s space
