- Abstract
The study is devoted to assessing the quality of functioning of asynchronous data transmission (ATM) networks based on the analysis of key parameters, including time characteristics of transmission, loss and error rates during transmission of data cells. The problem of the research object is the need to describe a universal methodology for accurately classifying ATM networks by service quality, taking into account the differentiation of priorities of transmitted cells and the impact of significant transmission errors on the final quality indicators. The purpose of the study is to test a comprehensive approach to assessing the quality of ATM networks, which makes it possible to determine the compliance of a particular network with established service quality classes based on an analysis of time characteristics and data transmission reliability indicators. The main methods used are statistical analysis of the time characteristics of cell transmission, calculation of loss and error coefficients with differentiation by priority, the method of quantification of transmission time variations, exclusion of data distorted by significant errors from calculated indicators, comparative analysis of the obtained indicators with normative values for various quality classes. The main results of the study: the methodology for the comprehensive assessment of the quality of ATM networks is described, the application of the methodology is demonstrated using a practical example, it is established that the network under study meets the requirements of the third, fourth and fifth quality classes, specific parameters (cell loss coefficient) are identified, according to which the network does not meet higher quality classes, confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed approach for the classification of ATM networks. Main conclusions: the proposed methodology allows for an all-round assessment of the quality of ATM networks, a differentiated approach to analyzing cells of different priorities increases the accuracy of the assessment, the exclusion of data with significant errors from calculations provides more objective results, practical application of the methodology has confirmed its effectiveness for network classification tasks, the results obtained can be used for optimization of ATM service quality monitoring and management processes.
