- Abstract
The study examines the relationship between regional food security and cluster models in the agro-industrial complex. An analysis of research by Russian and foreign scholars demonstrates that the impact of cluster formations on the food security system remains insufficiently studied. The hypothesis of the study is that the use of a cluster model in the regional agricultural economy will improve food security indicators. The proposed methodology incorporates a block of indicators related to cluster effects into the algorithm for assessing food security. The essence of the methodology lies in identifying four main groups of indicators that characterize different aspects of food security at the meso-level. The key indicators are related to the development of the agro-industrial complex, as well as to food supply and food safety. An additional block of cluster effects is also included. The methodology is tested using the example of the southern macro-district of Krasnoyarsk Krai. The results show that, in the presence of clusters, the level of food security tends to increase. The findings can be used for monitoring and adjusting strategic and program documents related to the socio-economic development of the region. Further development of the methodology may involve the use of various regional development scenarios and the forecasting of food security dynamics
