- Abstract
The effect of Cr, Mn, and Ni alloying additions on the oxidation and corrosion behavior of the Zn22Al zinc–aluminum alloy intended for protective coatings was investigated. The kinetic and energetic parameters of oxidation were studied in the temperature range of 523–623 K, and the true oxidation rates and activation energy were determined. It was established that manganese accelerates the oxidation process, whereas chromium and nickel exhibit an inhibiting effect. The influence of alloying on the electrochemical behavior and microstructure of the alloy was demonstrated. The obtained results can be used in the development of effective protective coatings
