- Abstract
In this study, binary and ternary deep eutectic solvents (DESs) based on glycerol, urea, and choline chloride were synthesized and studied to develop new environmentally friendly reagents for enhanced oil recovery. Melting points were determined using the capillary method, phase diagrams were constructed, and eutectic compositions were established for the binary systems: “glycerol – choline chloride” “choline chloride – urea” and “glycerol – urea” A single eutectic point was identified for each system, the temperature of which was significantly lower than the melting points of the individual components. Based on the phase diagrams of the binary systems, a phase diagram was constructed for the ternary system “glycerol – urea – choline chloride” and its eutectic point was determined. The introduction of a third component was shown to further decrease the melting/freezing point compared to the eutectic points in the binary systems. The effect of water on the properties of the eutectic composition of the ternary DES system was studied. It was found that adding water as a fourth component results in a lower pour point compared to the eutectic point of the ternary system. As a result of these studies, a new alkaline oil- displacing composition based on surfactants and the ternary DES system with adjustable physicochemical and rheological properties was developed for use in enhanced oil recovery technologies
