Abstract

Relevance is dictated by the need to study the transformation of the shape of perfume and cosmetic bottles from Ancient Greece to the present day, including samples generated by artificial intelligence (hereinafter AI). The purpose of the article is to examine the historical and cultural dynamics of the forms of perfume and cosmetic bottles and to scientifically justify methods for assessing their quality. The objectives reflect the logic of achieving this goal: to study the evolution of bottle shapes; to analyze the semiotics of bottle forms; to develop a design evaluation of the shape using the expert assessment method. The analysis applies historical and cultural methods, comparative analysis methods, semiotics and qualimetry, as well as psychophysiological studies taking into account the levels of visual perception of the bottle’s geometry and ergonomic analysis of its form. The results of the study substantiated the boundaries of the application of the expert assessment method and identified a class of value-oriented objects for which this method can be recommended. The expert evaluation method made it possible to demonstrate (in quantitative terms) a higher aesthetic and ergonomic level of the bottle design created by a human (0.7) compared to objects generated by artificial intelligence (0.52 and 0.48)
