Abstract

The article examines the intersection of physical anthropology and the modern search movement in Russia. The authors pay particular attention to the potential of paleoanthropological methods in determining the minimum number of individuals, sex, biological age, body length, and pathological features of the remains. This work explores the concept of «field anthropology» as a tool for situational analysis of burials, which allows for the reconstruction of the circumstances of death and ensures the correct correlation of personal artifacts with specific individuals. Additionally, the text highlights the importance of integrating digital technologies, such as 3D scanning and photogrammetry. The article emphasizes the need to train search team members in basic skills of working with anthropological remains due to the shortage of specialists in this area
