Abstract

Novel data on haplotypic diversity in natural populations of Polyommatus eros in the Polar Urals and the Putorana plateau, where the northern boundary of the species’ distribution is located, have been obtained. A comparative analysis of all available data from the gene bank for the studied species was carried out, revealing a total of 22 haplotypes. Approximately 70 % of the studied material belongs to the H1 haplotype, which absolutely prevails in the samples from the northern periphery of the species’ range. This indicates a high level of genetic similarity and subspecific identity among the hypoarctic populations of P. eros, despite their wide distribution and geographical isolation
