- Abstract
Based on field and archival materials, the article presents an analysis of the current state and features of the local tradition of the Tere-Khol’s Tuvans living along the modern northeastern Russian-Mongolian border. In Siberian ethnographic studies this local group of Tuvans is poorly studied in scientific terms, which is the relevance and novelty of the study. The paper examines the historical events that occurred in the life of Mongolian reindeer herders during the twentieth century, characterizes the waves of migration processes, and identifies the main causes of migration associated with various socio- historical factors in the Tuvan People’s Republic and the USSR. The article shows the specifics of an ethnic group with local features in the sphere of household activity in the past and present, which differ from western and central Tuvans. The urgent socio-economic problems characteristic of the Tere-Khol population related to the transport inaccessibility of the region are considered
