- Abstract
Lack of highly qualified personnel is one of the serious problems of the domestic academic science development. Main aim of research is to identify modern young people’s motivation to work in research area and to determine factors which influence their willingness to join Big Science, to take part in big projects. Motivations of young people were studied on the case of their attitude to SKIF project which is being implemented in science city Koltsovo in Novosibirsk region. It has been shown that the main drivers of engagement are the scale of the scientific task and professional competencies. In order to attract young people to academic activities it is necessary to provide them comfortable environment, suggest challenging work and demonstrate perspectives of career growth and financial wealth. It is important to educate young people widely, to inform them about perspectives of R&D, to show objects of research infrastructure, to exhibit obtained results
