- Abstract
This paper presents the results of the alkylation reaction of phenol with diprene (DP), dipentene (DPT), and the isoprene cyclodimer fraction (ICF). The alkylation reactions were carried out in a batch laboratory reactor using the zeolite- containing KN-30 catalyst. To determine the optimal reaction conditions, the effects of temperature (100–160 °C), reaction time (2–6 h), phenol-to-cyclodimer molar ratio (2:1–1:2), and catalyst loading (5–15 wt.%) on the yield and selectivity of the target product were investigated. The experimental results showed that the maximum yield of p-cycloalkylphenols (68.9–75.7 %) and high selectivity (85.3–92.5 %) were achieved at temperatures of 135–145 °C, reaction times of 4.5–6 h, a phenol-to- cyclodimer molar ratio of 1:1, and a catalyst loading of 10–13 wt.%. The structure and composition of the target products were confirmed by infrared (IR) spectroscopy, ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy, chromatographic analysis, and other physicochemical methods. The obtained results demonstrate the high efficiency of the KN-30 zeolite-containing catalyst in phenol alkylation reactions and indicate its potential for the industrial synthesis of alkylphenols with high selectivity and yield.
