Abstract

Redox reactions of the heteronuclear dimeric vinylidene complex [Cp(CO)2ReCu(μ-C=CHPh)(μ-Cl)]2 were studied by electrochemical methods on Pt- and Hg-electrodes in acetonitrile. It was found that the cleavage of Cu-Cl, Re-Cu, Cu-C1 bonds and the formation of mononuclear vinylidene rhenium complex Cp(CO)2Re=C=CHPh and Cu2+ and Cl- ions in the case of the oxidation and metallic copper and chloride ions in the case of the reduction is a result of two-electron oxidation and reduction of the dimer
