- Abstract
The article features Buryatia’s art of professional choreography, which represents a bright phenomenon of art, based upon synthesis of ethnic and European dance traditions. In the context of developing a national school of composition the period of formation of the Buryat ballet is studied, its ceremonial and ritual origins and genre background are determined. Research approach to the study of the music score of the ballet poem “Angara the Beauty” by Lev Knipper and Bau Iampilov includes two important aspects: cultural-historical and musical-theoretical, that allows to identify the particular characteristics of composition and drama of the ballet, specific features of creative refraction of the folk traditions in the musical language and in the choreographic vocabulary of the play, as well as narrative area of the poem. The leitmotivs of the ballet, which enable interconnection of the musical material in the temporary deployment, are analyzed in details
