- Abstract
The effects of temperature and precipitations on the formation of annual rings in stem wood of Siberian stone pine (Pinus sibirica Du Tour) and Siberian larch (Larix sibirica Ledeb.) in sites with different soil humidity are discussed. It is shown that these two species essentially differ on reaction of radial growth to temperature and precipitations during the growth period that is presumably caused by features of a seasonal cycle of needle development. The formation of a xylem year layer at deciduous larch depends on a favorable combination of weather conditions during two periods - «growth» and «activity» of needles. Damp and moderate-warm weather is necessary for young needles during growth period but its activity is more productive at high temperature and moderate precipitations. At evergreen Siberian stone pine the growth of xylem on the initial stage is not limited by young needles growth due to «activity» of alive needle developed during previous years. The xylem growth of trees of the unwaterlogged sites depends on precipitations during growth season, and in waterlogged sites the slight positive influence is caused by summer temperature.
