Abstract

It was studied phenol adsorption on activated carbons prepared under thermolysis (800ºC, 1h) of brown coal with potassium hydroxide at KOH/coal weight ratio up to 2 g/g. Phenol adsorption isotherms were obtained within the range of 0.01-3 mg/cm3 initial concentrations. Phenol adsorption data were compared with adsorption activity of carbons with respect to methylene blue and pore system characteristics: specific surface area, total pore volume, and micropore volume.
