Abstract

The article attempts a horizontal study of the modern artistic process in the capital and regions of Russia in the context of studying the existential guidelines and foundations of creativity of actively working and exhibiting painters and graphic artists who consider themselves to be an academic school or acting as representatives of current art practices. The object of research is the existential content of modern Russian fine art. The subject of the research is the methods of representation of existential meanings and meanings in the works of the specified area of the current artistic process. Without claiming to be a complete study, the author identifies significant exposition events of 2019–2023 and analyzes them from the perspective of the newest discipline “anthropology of art” and the segment “existential art studies” included in it. The analysis of the forms of plastic representation of the existentials of human existence (existential loneliness, freedom, love, suffering, “death experience”, transcendence) is based on the materials of interviews conducted by the author with the heroes of the article. The existential practice of contemporary Russian art is interpreted in the study as one of the ways of cultural self–reflection – self-identification of the art of modern Russia
