Abstract

The article examines the processes of development of foreign economic activity in the Republic of Tuva for 2015–2021. The challenges and risks of export and import dynamics are analyzed, the reasons for restraining the growth of foreign trade cooperation are determined. Based on calculations of factor dependence and cluster analysis, it was revealed that Tuva is included in the group of problem regions in which the volume of exports and imports is less than 0.01 % of the total in the Russian Federation. The main directions, forms and instruments of regulation of the development of Tuva’s foreign economic relations are determined. Conclusions are drawn about the need to increase the attractiveness of border territories by including investments in the extraction and processing of raw materials and the insignificant impact of the volume of foreign trade turnover on the macroeconomic dynamics of Tuva if there are prospects for its significant increase. New tools for the development of this sphere are substantiated: the Russia–Mongolia–China cross-border corridor and the cross-border special economic region
