Abstract

The article presents the characteristics of the description of the homeland of Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov of the village of Denisovka, Arkhangelsk province, compiled in 1865 by an outstanding representative of domestic business – Krasnoyarsk merchant of the 1st guild Mikhail Konstantinovich Sidorov, who proved himself not only in the field of entrepreneurship, but also in the study of the Russian North, charity in the field of enlightenment and public education. A handwritten text preserved in the Russian State Historical Archive, intended for the Lomonosov Committee, contains information about the state of the Den, the occupations of its residents, and the problems of the local school. It is of no less interest from the point of view of how the author’s worldview positions are reflected in it: patriotism, respect for Russian history, worries about competition with foreigners, concern for the spread of literacy. At the same time, the active character of M. K. Sidorov is emphasized by the detailed project inserted into the manuscript on reforming the public education system in Denisovka and the villages adjacent to it
