Abstract

The relevance of the study is associated with insufficient knowledge of the features of the development of the artistic process in Russian regions in the nineties, in general, and in Krasnoyarsk, in particular. The archival materials that have been accumulated till present – the cultural life of the 1990s evidence –require timely reflection. The study purpose is to describe the dynamics of the development of cultural life in Krasnoyarsk in the 1990s (using the example of the situation in fine arts and visual culture). Based on the results of the study, the key events in the cultural life of the city of the decade under study were named – the festival “New Territories of Art”, the Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale, exhibition projects – “In Search of the Unknown God”, “Architectural Twenty”, “Zaum’”, “Mars Attacks”, “Star MG” “ and others. A conclusion is drawn about the peculiarities of the development of fine art at this time: the meeting-clash of academic and conceptual art, turning to the creation of works on religious themes, highlighting new symptomatic features in the “portrait” of post-Soviet society
