- Abstract
The present paper aims to examine the metaphorical aspects found in English proverbs related to money. This analysis will be conducted using the Conceptual Metaphor Theory proposed by Lakoff and Johnson (1980), along with the FORCE money system introduced by Kövecses (2018). Our primary objective is to delve into the metaphorical nature of money proverbs and anti-proverbs across both languages. Kövecses (2018) suggests that further investigation is required into the FORCE metaphor of money, which will be a focal point of this chapter. Additionally, we will explore various conceptual metaphors related to money during our analysis
