Abstract

The paper presents the results of determining the physicochemical characteristics of thermolysis oil obtained from low-density polyethylene. The hydrocarbon composition of the oil, studied by GC-GC, GC–MS and HPLC methods, showed that the main compounds are alkanes, alkenes, alkadienes and cycloalkanes, which allows us to draw a conclusion about the mechanism of polyethylene conversion during thermolysis. Data on the fractional composition, density and viscosity make it possible to characterize the resulting product from the perspective of a petroleum product. According to its main characteristics, thermolysis oil made from polyethylene is comparable to such petroleum products as vacuum gas oil and straight-run diesel fraction
