- Abstract
We analyze the issues of spatial development of the Angara-Yenisei macroregion (AYMR). It is concluded that the development of the macroregion occurs on an unbalanced basis: the current territorial structure of production is characterized by the weak development of urban agglomerations that perform supporting basic functions in the settlement system, a relative and absolute reduction in the size of the resident population, and limited development of non-resource sectors of the economy focused on creating a variety of products with high added value. This is largely a consequence of the historical contradictions between the rich resource base and lower incomes of the population and regional budgets of the AYMR. The article examines possible scenarios for the spatial development of the Angara-Yenisei macroregion, taking into account the growing potential of interregional integration and large-scale technological modernization of the economy. Strengthening interregional relationships and spatial integration, based on the development of competitive industries in the energy and resource sector, can provide serious impetus for the development of the regional economy, including the innovation sector. The authors examined the necessary changes in the institutional conditions in which investment processes of resource development and economic activity take place
