Abstract

Samples of Siberian larch grown in the European North of Russia were selected as objects of research. The characteristic differences in the chemical composition of the heartwood, sapwood and bark are shown. A fraction of phenolic compounds, including flavonoids, was extracted by 80 % ethanol. These compounds are the most reactive in redox interactions. The irregular distribution of phenolic compounds and their redox properties in the wood tissue was established using a complex of physic-chemical methods (spectrophotometric, HPLC, indirect redoxometry). This mechanism of self- regulation ensures the stability of larch wood in oxidative processes and biostability
