Abstract

The article highlights educational tourism with a focus on the city of Irkutsk as a platform for providing students from China with educational services. Russia and China have demonstrated practices of cooperation for many years, but it was the beginning of the 21st century that became the starting point of a new wave of Chinese students’ interest in getting education in Russia. Irkutsk universities have been actively cooperating with Chinese educational institutions for a long time, and today such mutually beneficial activities are confirmed both by the Chinese students’ interest in learning Russian and their desire to know more about the culture of Siberia and Russia. The survey conducted among Chinese students shows a high degree of satisfaction with educational services, as well as Chinese students’ enthusiasm for traveling, thus substantiating the status of Irkutsk as a territory for sustainable development of educational tourism
