Abstract

The article discusses the range of books in the Enets language available in the Department of National Literatures of the Russian National Library (St. Petersburg). The analysis of the Enets sub-fund of the Department of National Literatures of the Russian National Library makes it possible to identify a number of features characterizing the young Enets bookishness and to draw conclusions about the repertoire of book publishing in it. Book publishing in Enets has only recently begun, but in its written tradition it is already possible to trace fluctuations in its alphabet. For the first time, the study of transformations in Enets language graphics at the initial stage of its formation is carried out, which determines the relevance of this work. Using the material of other small languages of the Uralic language family related to Enets (Votic, Ingrian, Beserman), the thesis is substantiated that fluctuations of the alphabets of small languages at the initial stage of their existence are a common phenomenon that does not detract from the contribution of linguists and language activists to their preservation
