- Abstract
The article examines the problematic situation that has developed in the fisheries on the Taz River, its causes and solutions are named. This topic has not been considered by scientists before. The article is based on the author’s field materials collected over the past 20 years. The following conclusions were made as a result of the study. The largest problem of the Taz fisheries is the reduction of the Taz fish resources, primarily valuable whitefish, which has resulted from its overfishing by fishing enterprises. Technical and logistical capabilities for overfishing were provided by the state as part of supporting the traditional way of life of the indigenous peoples of the North. Overfishing was also facilitated by the untimely introduction of amendments to the Law on Fisheries, imperfect systems for distributing catch volumes, poaching, the lack of an effective fisheries protection structure and natural disasters. The plan to save the Taz fishery is based on strict compliance with the established rules by all its participants
