Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive study of the ethnopharmacological traditions of the Tungus-Manchu peoples (Evenks, Nanai, Ulchi, Manchus, etc.) inhabiting the extreme environments of Siberia and the Russian Far East. The authors present a systematic analysis of medicinal plants (Dahurian larch, Siberian dwarf pine, golden rhododendron, etc.), their therapeutic properties, and applications in traditional medicine. Special focus is given to the interconnection between ethnopharmacological practices, cultural traditions, mythological worldviews, and adaptation strategies of indigenous communities. Drawing on extensive historical sources (works by V. G. Bogoraz, S. M. Shirokogorov, G. M. Vasilevich) and contemporary research (including publications in Journal of Ethnopharmacology and Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine), the study highlights the significant potential of traditional knowledge for modern pharmacology and medicine. The authors emphasize the urgent need for interdisciplinary research combining ethnography, botany, and pharmacology to preserve and scientifically validate these unique practices, which are currently under threat due to globalization processes
