Abstract

The vertical structure of internal seiches in a stratified lake (Shira, Khakassia, Eastern Siberia) is determined in this paper. The frequencies and vertical velocity profiles of each mode are calculated using temperature and salinity measurements in Lake Shira in various years. A linear model in the long-wave approximation is used for calculations, and continuous stratification in the lake is varied from three-layer to six-layer structure. Vertical velocity frequencies of each mode are also obtained by spectral analysis of field measurement data and numerical simulation results based on the ROMS (Regional Oceanic Modeling System) model
