- Abstract
The article opens the section of the scientific journal of the Siberian Federal University «Contemporary Art in the global and regional dimension» and presents the result of a study of the concept of «Siberian Contemporary Art». The content of this concept is considered within the framework of the proposed structure, which includes four content vectors: time, place, originality (uniqueness), cultural identity. These measurements allow us to substantiate a number of parameters of the concept of «Siberian Contemporary Art». The time of creation of works of Siberian contemporary art is similar to the time of creation of works of world art in the category of «Contemporary Art» – from the late 1960s to the present. The place of creation of works of Siberian contemporary art is the cultural and geographical concept of «Siberia», which may or may not coincide with the modern borders of administrative–territorial entities – regions of the Siberian Federal District. The originality (uniqueness) of Siberian contemporary art works is determined by the community of art critics and art theorists, including various institutions, agents, and subjects. Cultural identity is determined by the inseparability of Siberian contemporary art with Siberian culture, including the culture of groups, communities, and individuals: works of Siberian contemporary art necessarily participate in the processes of Siberian cultural identification, and, conversely, the representation of Siberian cultural identification is impossible without pointing to these works as its integral components
