Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the primary fields of archaeological research on the Crimean Peninsula, outlining current challenges and prospects. While some of these fields are traditional, dating back to the establishment of Russian archaeological science in the mid‑19th century, others have emerged only recently. The enhancement and refinement of research directions have been made possible by the substantial expansion of the source base since 2014, following large‑scale rescue excavations, as well as by the widespread use of natural science methods in material analysis. The article concludes by highlighting the diversity of archaeological research in Crimea, shaped by its strategic location, and underscores the necessity of systematizing and publishing the accumulated data to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the region’s historical processes
