- Abstract
The article explores the participation of the Soviet Union in the International Fur and Hunting Exhibition held in Leipzig in 1930, with particular attention to the organization and content of the Archaeological Department representing the Siberian North. Drawing on archival sources, museum correspondence, periodicals, and preserved photographs, the study reconstructs the stages of exhibition preparation, the mechanisms for selecting materials, and the role of various Soviet museums, academic institutions, and organizations in curating and supporting the department. Special focus is given to the contribution of the Committee for Assistance to the Peoples of the Northern Outskirts in conceptual development and logistical coordination. The article demonstrates how the exhibition served as a tool for the USSR’s foreign policy positioning and for presenting the cultural and resource potential of Siberia on the international stage. For the first time, previously unpublished archival documents related to the conceptual planning, structure, and objectives of the Archaeological Department are introduced into academic circulation
