Abstract

This article describes the results of research conducted on the aeromechanical dewatering of fine coals using a newly developed experimental setup. Aeromechanical dewatering is an alternative to thermal coal drying, offering increased volatile yields. The primary apparatus used for aeromechanical dewatering is a Venturi tube, in the throat of which the liquid film is stripped from the surface of coal particles, converting them into an aerosol without the water passing into the gas phase. It has been established that moisture in coals of 0–3(6) mm class can be reduced by 25 % relative to the original value. Furthermore, the energy costs for removing 1 kg of moisture do not exceed those for thermal drying (35 kW h/t)
