Abstract

The ethnic renaissance and global migration processes are shaping the modern world, including the countries of the European Union, which is not only multicultural, but also defragmented along many borders: ethnic, religious, social, cultural, political, etc. Modern migration policy in Western European countries is characterized by a more liberal approach: the emphasis is on the integration of migrants and the protection of minority rights. However, there are also stricter measures in response to the increase in illegal migration. In Eastern Europe, a conservative nationalist course dominates: migration is perceived as a threat, and support for national minorities is often limited to titular ethnic groups. These countries are resisting pan- European migration quotas, relying on strict border controls. Thus, while Western Europe seeks to balance humanism and security, Eastern Europe chooses sovereignty and cultural homogeneity
