- Abstract
This article is an analysis of the concept of “health” within the framework of the traditional culture of the Nenets through the prism of mythological and religious beliefs revealed in the analysis of Nenets folklore and visual art. The article examines three concepts of “health” characteristic of traditional cultures: as a positive definition reflecting a person’s harmony with the world order; as a condition caused by purposeful, harmful influence from outside; as a socially constructed definition related to the correlation between a person and society. The analysis of folklore texts and works of art demonstrates that the concept of “health” in Nenets culture functions not only as a medical, but also as a worldview category that forms a system of values and norms of behavior, serving as a significant ethno-identification factor for preserving the integrity of the ethnocultural group of Nenets
