- Abstract
This article presents the results of a study of folklore texts of the Enets ethnocultural group as sources of ethnic knowledge about the plant world and the nutritional and medicinal properties of plants. The materials for the analysis were folklore works published as part of a series of works by the N. N. Miklouho- Maclay Institute of Ethnography: “Mythological Tales and Historical Legends of the Enets” (1961) and “Everyday Stories of the Enets” (1962). The texts included in these publications were collected and prepared by the distinguished ethnographer and researcher of the indigenous peoples of the North, Boris Osipovich Dolgikh (1904–1971). Folklore works, everyday stories, supplemented by autobiographical materials, living evidence of the past and present life of the Enets, reveal the ethnocultural characteristics of this indigenous small people, record the uniqueness of the Enets among other representatives of the Samoyedic peoples, and also allow us to identify the main types of representation of elements of the plant world in Enets folklore and the directions of their use
