Abstract

The article provides an overview of contemporary research in the cultural anthropology of indigenous medical systems worldwide. It examines the key directions in the study of ethnomedical systems, including traditional ecological knowledge, food- related practices, mechanisms of transmitting medical knowledge, the foundations of established healing systems, and forms of medical pluralism. The analysis also addresses interdisciplinary approaches employed in global medical anthropology, as well as regional specificities of traditional medical systems
