Abstract

Processes of hydrogen sorption by thin magnesium plate covered by Pd were studied using DFT GGA plane wave pseudopotential method. It was found that the magnesium plate plays the main role in hydrogen sorption process with sorption rate up to 7.6 wt %. Pd atoms deposited on the magnesium surface make the diffusion of the hydrogen atoms from magnesium surface inside the plate easier and prevent the formation of magnesium hydrate on the plate surface.
