- Abstract
The 5-hydroxymethylfurfural oxydation process by concentrated nitric acid has been studied. Temperature was ranging from -16 to +60 0C. 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural was converted to the oxidized derivatives, 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid, 5-formyl-2-furancarboxylic acid, and 2,5-diformylfuran. 60% total yield of oxidized derivatives was attained under optimized reaction conditions
