Abstract

Kinetics of air oxidation of In-Sn and In-Ag melts at 1273 K depending on the initial alloy composition was considered in this paper. It was found that the scale on the In-Sn melts contained In2O3 even at low content of indium in initial alloy while the tin in the scale appeared when its content in initial system was ≥ 40 at. %. Increasing oxidation rate as the silver content of In-Ag melts increased was associated with the presence of compound Ag3In in this system.
