Abstract

The process of porous metal-carbon composites synthesis from waste wood modified with chlorides of iron and zinc was studied. It was shown that a crystalline phase of magnetite type (Zn0,29 Fe0,71) Fe2O4 forms in solid product for carbonization of the starting composite up to 400 °C; increase of temperature up to 800 °C leads to the formation of magnetite and maghemite not containing zinc. It was found that the sorption capacity of the synthesized samples is higher in comparison with the sorption capacity of industrial carbon sorbent for extraction of gold, platinum and palladium from chloride solutions.
