- Abstract
The effect of mechanical activation (MA) of alumina on its physical and mechanical properties, structure, and the dissolution rate in molten fluorides has been studied . The specific surface area decreased after MA by 10 times, although the amount of fine particles (<10 microns) rises from 1.7 to 50 - 70 %. It was shown that spontaneous aggregation of particles of activated alumina suppress dusting. Change the phase composition the formation of X-ray amorphous alumina after MA in a planetary mill and a new phase appearance after MA in a vibrating mill has been established.
