- Abstract
The epibenthic shrimp P. elegans is a recent invader in the Baltic Sea. Settling the Vistula lagoon shrimps are likely basic consumers of plant detritus at the different stages of its formation with periphyton which is connected with detritus (at any case during the summer). The shrimps have probably no serious competitors among autochthonous species of the Vistula lagoon. This may influence on the structure of trophic webs where benthivorous fish are consumers of high levels.
