Abstract: The article is devoted to the up-to-date contents of fairy tale as a cultural gadget of the humankind. Clarifying the functions of a fairy story as a carrier for cultural memory and intuitive normative knowledge of the humankind, the author raises the problem of folk ideals in the historical and cultural retrospective reflected in fairy tales, including the age of post-industrial network information society, outlines the framework for the involvement of fairy tale in life design, formulates the hypothesis of the nature of fairy tale indifference to the borderline between life and death
