Abstract

The influence of initial concentrations of vanillin and sodium hydrosulfite, and ionic strength of solutions on the stripping equilibrium in a water-octanol system has been studied. Vanillin-hydrosulfite adduct was found to precipitate from the saturated sodium hydrosulfite solutions, and the observed distribution ratio of vanillin from organic into water and solid phase attained values of 200–250.
