Abstract

This article is devoted to the system of art history education formed in the city of Krasnoyarsk at Krasnoyarsk State University, and then at Siberian Federal University. The article explores the formation history of art history educational direction and examines the specifics of the approach to teaching of the founders of the Art History and Cultural Studies Department – Vladimir Ilyich Zhukovsky, Natalya Petrovna Koptseva and Olga Anatolyevna Karlova. The main research methods are historical analysis, description, reflection, teachers and graduates of the department interviewing. The study is based on the educational practice of the Art History and Cultural Studies Department at Krasnoyarsk State University from 1999 to 2007 and the Cultural Studies and Art History Department of the Humanitarian Institute at Siberian Federal University from 2008 to the present. The specificity of the approach to training art historians is the integrity and strength of the theoretical and methodological platform of education, the complexity of mastering the specifics of the eras artistic culture, the combination of regular and event-based forms of education, as well as the research. The analysis of the experience of art history education in Krasnoyarsk on the basis of the Art History and Cultural Studies Department at Krasnoyarsk State University, and then the similar Department of the Humanitarian Institute at Siberian Federal University shows that over almost 30 years of existence and development, Krasnoyarsk has developed its own educational and scientific school of art history
