Abstract

The beginning of the 20th century is a time of significant changes in the field of art. The understanding of the meaning of art and its purpose is changing, new possibilities of artistic language are being sought. And the work of Natalia Sergeevna Goncharova is one of the examples of such transformations and searches. The artist has gone through a difficult path of professional development and finding her individual style. In the framework of the present study, the manifestation of Russian, Jewish and Spanish motifs in N.S. Goncharova’s works (sketches of scenery and costumes for the opera-ballet “The Golden Cockerel” and the ballet “The Wedding”, “Jewish Women”, “Jewish Family”, “Spanish Woman with a Fan”, “Two Spanish women with a dog”) is considered on the basis of the key works analysis. National themes, folk colors were of interest to the artist throughout her creative path, and determined the originality of her multifaceted heritage as a painter, graphic artist and stage designer
