- Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of culturological approaches to the concept of “practice”, which has become widely used by modern scientists. The material for the study was selected articles of the collective work of foreign authors “Turn to practice in modern theory”, published in English by the largest international scientific publishing house Routledge in 2005. The author analyses the articles, the topics of which are devoted to practices, their forms, as well as the functions they perform in the life of society. The study showed that at the beginning of the XXI century, issues related to the conceptualization of the concept of practice and the methodology of its study are recognized as relevant. The analysis of individual articles made it possible to generalize and systematize existing approaches to the definition of the concept of “practice”, each of which reveals one or another aspect of this cultural phenomenon. First of all, practice is understood as a mechanism regulating society, determining the social order. Practice is also understood as a kind of unified holistic system consisting of various forms of socio-cultural activity of an individual. At the same time, these forms of practices relate to each other according to a hierarchical principle. And finally, practice is defined in its semantic function as something that potentially contains certain values, norms and meanings. In general, the results of the analysis of various approaches to the concept of “practice” demonstrate a certain conceptual framework that has developed today, revealing the essence of the concept of practice, which determines the legality of its application in relation to the field of art and culture
