- Abstract
This paper deals with the latest methods of art works analyzing developed within the interdisciplinary fields of “ art anthropology “ and “existential art studies”. Fundamental human states, dimensions and properties (“existentials” of human being) are studied on the fine art works basis. The object of the study are the paintings and graphic works of the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, the academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Konstantin Vitalievich Petrov (born in 1964). The subject of the study is the existential content specificity of K. Petrov’s works created throughout his career. The aesthetic and philosophical study of existential values and meanings in the modern Russian master`s work is based on an art historical microanalysis of the means of artistic expression used by the artist (color, composition, rhythm, texture), as well as taking into account the analyzed works genre features (landscape, portrait, still-life)
