Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration in a culturally philosophical way of the problem of genre identification of the ten-volume work of A. I. Solzhenitsyn “The Red Wheel”. The author of the article has established that the genre of this work is determined by researchers, including as an epic, an epic novel, a historical epic, a cycle, a chronicle, a chronicle, an artistic study. Historicism, artistry and epic are considered as genre-forming features in the article. The author comes to the conclusion that the historical and documentary component dominates in the work. Ideologically and thematically, The Red Wheel is devoted to the study of the prerequisites, causes and course of the Russian Revolution, with the broad involvement of the writer in socio- cultural, political and other contexts covering the life of the whole country and individuals
